Lynne M. Allen is a Nurse Practitioner who provides care for adult patients both in the hospital and clinic settings. She has been a Registered Nurse for more than 15 years, during which time she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BSN degree from Washington State University and an MN degree in the Adult/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program at University of Washington. Her academic achievements also include induction into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing in 1997.
Ms. Allen’s nursing experience has focused on patients with cancer and her special areas of interest include palliative care and pain management. She is a charter member of the Tri-Cities Pain Management Network and a member of the Southeast Washington Pain Society. She is also a Charter Board Member of What’s New in Medicine, a local organization which provides continuing education for health care providers in SE Washington. She is a member of the Society of Hospital Medicine (SHM) and serves on its Non-Physician Provider Committee. Ms. Allen is the first non-physician to be invited to join Team Hospitalist, an advisory group for “The Hospitalist” a publication of the Society of Hospital Medicine. She presented at SHMs national conference in May 2009 on the integration of Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants into practice teams. She has also made numerous presentations on pain, care delivery systems, and cancer care.
Because of Ms. Allen’s desire to further the profession of nursing, she also is a Nursing Instructor at Washington State University Tri-Cities where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate nursing students. She was instrumental in organizing the Columbia River Nurse Practitioner Association, an affiliate of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and serves as a Board Member. Ms. Allen lives in Kennewick with her husband and in her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, gardening and traveling to visit her two adult children who live in Seattle and New York.
